Talk to someone
The Alberta Health Services Addiction Helpline offers free, confidential support for gambling, alcohol, and substance use concerns — for yourself or someone you're worried about. Call 1-866-332-2322, any time.
GameSense — AGLC's responsible gambling program
GameSense is AGLC's official responsible gambling program, offering tools, information, and trained advisors who can talk through your gambling habits without judgment. GameSense advisors are available by phone during posted hours — check the current schedule on AGLC's site, as hours vary.
Self-Exclusion Program
If gambling no longer feels like a game, AGLC's Self-Exclusion Program lets you remove yourself from casinos, racing entertainment centres, and — once the regulated online market is live — participating online operators, for a period you choose.
- Sign up online at SelfExclusion.ca
- Or call AGLC's Self-Exclusion line: 1-844-468-8034
- Or email se@aglc.ca
Once you're enrolled, the exclusion period cannot be cancelled early — it runs for the full term you select. This is intentional: it's designed to hold even if you change your mind partway through.
Tools available on every licensed operator
Every AGLC-licensed operator is required to offer deposit limits, time-outs, and account self-exclusion directly within the platform — you don't need to wait until something feels wrong to set these. Many players set a deposit limit on day one as a routine precaution, the same way you'd set a budget for anything else.
For friends and family
If you're concerned about someone else's gambling, Gam-Anon and the Alberta Health Services Addiction Helpline both support people affected by someone else's gambling, not just the person gambling themselves. Alberta Health Services also maintains a broader directory of support options.
